Finger Press Massage, Shiatsu

Massage is a common way to relieve stress, tiredness and muscle tension. Shiatsu is a unique Japanese style of massage which treats the same meridian system of the body used in acupuncture. Shiatsu, 'shi', meaning finger, and 'atsu', meaning pressure. The massage therapy aims at treating the common psychological and physical problems faced by people, by applying slight force on the pressure points. In this context, it can also be considered as the Japanese counterpart of  'acupressure', which is popular in China. The massage therapy can help treat depression, anxiety, nausea, stiffness, headaches, arthritis, cramps, and pulled muscles.

Below are some interesting diagrams with explanation where you can perform self massage with shiatsu system :

A fantastic self-treatment to release tension at the end of the day, or to energize yourself in the morning!

  • Side neck stretch : still looking ahead, tilt your head to the right side, and place your right hand over your head. Use the weight of your hand to get more of a stretch, whilst reaching away with your left hand. Same other side.
  • Shoulder massage : tilt your head to the right, and apply loose fists / karate chops on top of left shoulder.
  • Loose fists down the inside of arms, and up the outside , to encourage the flow of energy in the 3 yin (inner) arm meridians and the 3 yang (outer) arm meridians. A couple of times on each arm.
  • Repeat other side
  • Shake out your arms and sigh loudly!
  • Loose fists on chest and around ribcage
  • Gentle loose fists down muscles of lower back
  • Rub sacrum with knuckles , moving your body up and down.

Kidney Stone and Home Remedies

Few days back, i found a good post about kidney stone home remedies posted by a friend. What you eat is what you sow. But, today's food world dilemma, "What you eat , will puzzle you".

  • A kidney stone is a hard, crystalline mineral material formed within the kidney or urinary tract.
  • Nephrolithiasis is the medical term for kidney stones.
  • Symptoms of a kidney stone include flank pain (which can be quite severe) and blood in the urine (hematuria).
  • Kidney stones form when there is a decrease in urine volume and/or an excess of stone-forming substances in the urine.
  • Dehydration is a major risk factor for kidney stone formation.
  • People with certain medical conditions, such as gout, and those who take certain medications or supplements are at risk for kidney stones.
  • Dietary and hereditary factors are also related to stone formation.
  • Diagnosis of kidney stones is best accomplished using a CT scan.
  • Most kidney stones will pass through the ureter to the bladder on their own with time.
  • Treatment includes pain control medications and, in some cases, medications to facilitate the passage of urine.
  • If needed, lithography or surgical techniques may be used for stones which do not pass through the ureter to the bladder on their own.

Below is the article which interest me for home remedies for kidney stone :

"I am not a medical doctor educated. I've made in my experience, written are home remedy treatment. Today, the majority of kidney stone is a common problem. The pain is caused, in my experience, comparable with any kind of pain. I have four years ago, when the first gas at the waist pain that I thought would be a problem, but the amount of pain Can not afford to go on increasing in size increased. If you go to the doctor, recommended to scan. I scanned the report, 5mm and 9mm-two stones in the kidney and the doctor said that it can be removed thru through surgery.Medical cost `30,000!!!

This surgery is done correctly, that if I get this problem, it is not guaranteed, and you have your daily diet That depends on the amount of drinking water. I surrendered to Google search, one hour after research, I found a guy had a treatment with the name of the vegetable, French beans. Below are the remedies :

(¼) quarter kg French beans (available in all stores),  buy, seeds removed, boiled in water (at least 2 Hours), put it in the blender and blend it and drink it . After10 minutes, drink 2 liters of water (if you do not drink at the same time one shot, drink  it slowly till you finish the 2 litres.

Early 5 a.m morning , still drinking the 2 litre water for 3 ½ hours, i found 5 small stones through urination. Stone from the kidney to the bladder through a small pipe will be unbearable pain, and then released from the bladder,if the urinary tract are blocked, the urine will pass by but the stone wont released and it cause danger.

We shouldn't panic that time but continuously we need to increase the amount of drinking water, where lead to frequent urination. When we pressure it by drinking the amount of water, the kidney stones which will be shapeless, and your urine bladder might be torn and bleed but no worries, it will heal fast. in the inflowing torn. I went back to have a scan and doctor has verified it's gone. Now, i make a practice to drink 3 litres of waters everyday without failure:

Archery, the Bow & Arrow Art

Recently i was tempted to try shooting as a hobby, i mean archery :) Me and Krish had a chance to experience the ancient Paleolithic art of bow and arrow at Stars Archery, Sunway Pyramid, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.  There are another branch located in Times Square as well. For more information check out http://www.lasports.com.my/ and https://www.facebook.com/StarsArcheryMalaysia/info

Coming back to my archery experience, i was kind of impressed with archery history and type of archery. Below is my summary what is archery all about :

Term of Archery

Archery is the art, practice, or skill of propelling arrows with the use of a bow, from Latin arcus. Historically, archery has been used for hunting and combat, while in modern times, its main use is that of a recreational activity. A person who participates in archery is typically known as an "archer" or "bowman", and one who is fond of or an expert at archery can be referred to as a "toxophilite"

 History of Bow & Arrow

Historians believe people have been using bows and arrows for at least 25,000 years, possibly longer, based on arrowheads discovered in Africa. The practice first started in the Stone Age as a safer method of hunting by the cavemen. Eventually it became an important aspect of warfare in the days before gunpowder. By then it had also become a popular sport in many countries.

During the middle ages, archery was the lowliest form of warfare. Archers were usually the lowest paid soldiers due to the cheapness of making a bow and arrow. Many archers belonged to the peasant class because the higher classes viewed the bow and arrow as being insufficient, or to use only for entertainment.

However, this low view of archery was turned around when the Vikings used archery as their main weapon which gained them large success. By the time of the 100years war, the English had learned how to use archers to their advantage, rather that using swords men, who could not fight from a distance. By this time, archery was not for the lower class, and archers were recruited as children and trained meticulously until and throughout adulthood. Every boy that was recruited was given a bow that was as high as he was, and expected to learn on it. During battle, archers would typically shoot two arrows, one from a higher route and one from a lower route. This would hit the enemy at two different angles, which made it difficult for the enemy to defend themselves.

Archery Components

Type of Archery

Traditional

Traditional archery is archery in its simplest and original form. Wooden arrows fletched with feathers, a wooden bow, shooting glove, bracer and quiver is all the equipment you need to compete along side other traditional archers.

Probably the most famous bow in the world is the English Longbow. A traditional archery bow. If a member of the public was asked to name a famous archer they would undoubtedly think of Robin Hood, and not the current Olympic Champion.

Recurve

The only bow style allowed at the Olympics is the recurve bow.

Modern engineering, sights, stabilizers and carbon arrows makes the modern recurve a far superior bow than it traditional predecessors, but there still limits on the types of equipment allowed.

Compound

The compound bow is designed for maximum accuracy. The eccentric cams on the end of the limbs assist the archer by reducing the holding weight when they reach full draw position. This improves the archers ability to hold steady and also accelerates the arrow from the bow increasing speed. A mechanical trigger called a release aid is used to let go of the string, telescopic sights are permitted. Almost anything is allowed provided it is not electronic or electrical.

How to play Archery

  • Don’t grip the bow with your fingers. Let it rest in your hand.
  • Use the 45 degree angled grip with the fingers off the bow.
  • Keep the arm straight without a bend in the elbow.
  • Keep the elbow pointing sideways, not down. Don’t let it stick out into the path of the string.
  • Push forward with the bow arm towards the target. Imagine the arm as a single unit and push with all of it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Listen to your body. If something hurts after shooting, try to figure out why. Is the muscle simply tired, or is something strained?
  • Getting into shape for anything should be done slowly. Don't push too hard at first, and don't expect to feel big changes in a single week.
  • Use common sense whenever shooting your bow.

To get more clearer picture of the instructions, please view the video which i found in Youtube ( I personally felt the guidance given is good instruction for shooting ). So grab an arrow today and start shooting, folks :)

Adi Shankracharya & Guru Paduka Stotram (Guru Paadukabhyam Stotram)

What is Guru Paduka (Guru Paadukabhyam) Strotram ?

Guru Paduka Stotram, also known as Guru Paadukabhyam, is a great devotional prayer written by Adi Shankaracharya. This devotional prayer is dedicated to the Sandals of the Teacher (Guru) which is  salutations to his guru, in this case meaning the Lord. The English language translation of the first verse means:
Salutations and Salutations to the sandals of my Guru,
Which is a boat, which helps me, cross the endless ocean of life,
Which endows me, with the sense of devotion to my Guru,
And by worship of which, I attain the dominion of renunciation.

Who is Adi Shankracharya?

Adi Shankracharya was born to a Brahmin couple Shivaguru and Aryamba who lived in Kerala in 788 A.D. He studied all the four Vedas, when he was still a child. At 7, he mastered all the holy shastra and upanishads. At the early age of 8 he renunciated the world. He met Shri Guru Govindanath of whom he became an ardent disciple and who conferred on him the degree of 'Acharya' meaning professor for his knowledge about Adwait philosophy, Upanishads and other Shastras.

He established Mathas or monasteries at Badrinath, Dwarka, Sringeri, Puri and Kanchi. The heads of the Mathas are named after him while the sanyasins who are his followers are called Dashnamis as they are known by the ten appellations namely, Teerth, Ashram, Vana, Aranya, Giri, Parvat, Sagai; Saraswati, Bharati and Puri.

Shankracharya has also been called 'Shanmat Sthajianacharya' because he founded the following six religious culls:

(i) Ganapatyan,
(ii) Kaumaram,
(iii) Vaishnavam,
(iv) Sauram,
(v) Saktani and
(vi) Shaivam.

His literary works include commentaries called Shankar Bhasya. The philosophy that was systematized by Shankracharya was the Adwait philosophy. In other words, he was a philosophical genius who created Vedanta, the end (or conclusion) of the Vedas. It is this philosophy that dominates Hinduism today. It rests on the wisdom of the three basic Hindu texts: the Upanishads, Vedanta Sutras, and Bhagavad Gita. Shankara's Vedanta philosophy taught that the world is illusory, or maya, and only the transcendent ultimate reality, the Brahman, is real. You may search for his biography thru search engine or read Shankara Vijayam (biographies of the Advaita philosopher Adi Shankara).
